Email is no longer the ONLY way to communicate across the internet. Ask any teenager, and they will most likely tell you they rarely use Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo!, or any email system. Instead, they send instant messages (IM's) or communicate via social networking sites such as Facebook.
Some of these fast-texting youngsters have gown up and joined the workforce just as businesses see the benefit in using IM and collaborative sites (the old person's term for social networking).
Skype is a great example. At Nutra-Flo, we use Skype daily for instant messaging our partners all over the world. The fact that Skype also is free and is the best web-telephone system that I know of means the "Death of the Telephone" as well.
We also use Sametime instant messaging internally.
How do you see communication changing?
