Whle VeraSun announced the details of the delayed opening of two of the nation's largest ethanol plants, others may be closing as high corn and natural gas prices squeeze margins.
The recent flooding in Iowa (and much of the Midwest corn belt) has pushed corn prices to unprecedented levels.
Natural gas is no bargain either, hovering around $14. It's hard to believe that it takes energy (natural gas, for example) to make energy (ethanol).
